PRESIDENT’S APPEAL TO MR ROCKEFELLER. HALF A MILLION MINERS .THREATEN TO STRIKE. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. WASHINGTON, April 27. (Received April 28, at 11.10 a.m.) President Wilson has appealed to Mr J. D. Rockefeller, who is the largest owner of Colorado Mines, where fighting is still proceeding, to attempt to restore peace, as the President is unable to despatch any troops to the strike area owing to the Mexican trouble. Half a million miners in lowa threaten to strike unless a settlement is affected.
