Moerafcl, S.S., is expected to leave Bluff at 8 o'clock to-night, and will endeavor to catch the 5 o'clock tide and come right np to Dunedin to-morrow morning. Invercargill, s.s., sailed at noon yesterday with a cargo of Oregon timber for Oamarn. Aparima. s.s., is due at Newcastle today from Calcutta and Singapore. She sails thence for Auckland and other New Zealand ports. Nerehana, s-s., which left Sydney for Auckland on Saturday morning, had been -Iry docked .owing to damage sustained in a collision -with a wharf when leaving . Melbourne, which delayed her departure for New Zealand considerably. She is expected to reach Dunedin about the middle of May. MARATHON IN TROUBLE. An adcident, -which proved costly to repair, bnt fortunately did no personal damage, occurred on board the Aberdeen liner Marathon during her last passage from Australia to London. The trouble occurred at Port Natal, and was an engine- room affair, it being the collapse of no less than six of the furnace irons of t-oilers. Two dropped down about 4in. the ethers about l£in each. Repairs took four days to complete, and cost between £450 and £SOO. SYDNEY HARBOR. - According to a recent survey of Sydney Harbor hy the Admiralty, the chart was altered and a warning issued to mariners advising that off Bradlay's Head ihs spit had shoaled dangerously. The amended .chart was published for general informs* tion. Since then the local authorities at Sydney have taken Soundings at Bradley's Head, irith the result that a grave differ- -■ esice exists between the Admiralty and the local reports. According to the Hstbor Trust and the New South Wales Public Works Department officials the depth of water off Bradley's Head is as good as ?ver it -*a«, with possibly & few feet more than before. The Admiralty soundings show that the -water has decreased by half all the way r»tmd. This difference, it is nnderstod. has been brought under the notice at the fl-va] anth'-flrftias, and it is likely that another survey of the" point will be made. PERSONAL. BMTISB WRECKS IN FEBRUARY. The Jiet tonnage of British vessels respecting whose loss reports were received jit th* Board of Trade during tko month of February, 1914. and the number of lives lost are as follow :—Sailing, SS lost, 6,843 tons, 39 lives lost; steam, IS lost, 6.964 tons, 112 lives lost. The figures in : elude tile losses of 16 sailing vessels of 2,957 tons, sod four steamers of I*4lß tons belonging to British possessions abroad, involving the loss of the lives of 22 persons, of whom one was lost in a sailing vessel and 21 in a steamer. Casualties not resulting in total loss of vessels, and the lives lost by such casualties, are not included. THE VICTORIA. In consequence of the Victoria being engaged to convey a number of Territorials from Gisborne to Napier on Thursday, it has been decided to detain the vessel at Auckland until .Wednesday, a day late. The Victoria will also be late in her northward running. She will leave Dunedin on May 6, and at Napier will take on board a body of Territorials for Gisberne. It is expected, however, that both Napier and Gisborne will-be worked on May 9, enabling the Victoria to. arrive at Auckland on May 10. - ■ SHIPPING TELEGRAMS.
