The competition for the championship of the Otago Golf Club for the year was advanced a stage on Saturday. B. Wight defeated H. Brasch, 2 up and 1 to play; and C. R. Sargood beat W. H. Young bv a like margin. N. A. W. Wallis, who had earlier in the week won the championship of Southland, was off his game, and fell easily a victim to Dr Ross, the latter winning by 9 holes and 7 to plav; and T G. Young defeated H. H. Hutcheson by 4 and 3. J A round also of the competition for the Balmacewen Cup was played. In this J. H. C. Bond defeated D. A. Haeeitt by 7 and 5; J. R. Bartholomew defeated B. B. Hooper by 4 and 3; P. A. Young defeated J. A. Cook by 6 and 4; and J Hutchison defeated D. V. Donaldson at the mnteenth hole.
