PIPE BAND CONTEST

WON BY DUNEDIN. The Champion Pipe Band contest at Auckland on Saturday afternoon was won by Dunedin with 334JJ points. Auckland was second with 304 points, and Oamaru third with 270 points. Theso were the only competitors. Points were given for music, dress, appearance, and drill, and Dunedin led in each department. The judge said the Dunedin Band would be difficult to beat anywhere. The other events were taken part in by very few competitors. Bellamy, of "Victoria, won the Gillie Galium Sword Dance and Irish Jig Championships, and J. Centre, of Victoria, won the championships for pibrochs and marches.
