RACING AT RANDWICK
SOLTANO WINS IN GOOD STYLE. METROPOLITAN GOES TO CAGOU. The weather was warm and bright for the second day of the A.J.C. Spring Meeting, and the attendance equalled that on Saturday. Lord and Lady Denman were present. The feature yesterday from the New Zealand point of view was the mariner in which Soltano retrieved himself. He started a firm second favorite in the Clibborn Stakes, Radnor being odds on. The admirers of Mr Lowry’s colt contended that in Saturday’s race he did not show anything like his true form. He looked as if his run in the Derby had improved him. From the rise of the barrier he never left the issue in doubt, but set a cracking pace, which ho maintained right to the post. Oliver pursued different tactics, letting the horse have his head, which panned out better with such a free goer. Results:— - Shorts Handicap, of 600sovs. 6f.—J. E.
