LONDON, September 4. (Received September 5, at 1 p.m.) The member lor Derby, Mr Thomas, in an interview, said that the Aisgill railway disaster was due to a shortness of steam oil _ both trains, through the uso of inferior coal. The public would insist on knowing why a cross-examination is not to be allowed where the loss of 14 lives is involved.

Mr Paget protests against an attempt to prejudice the cause of the disaster. The Board of Trade inquiry proceedings will be private. An examination of th© bodies of the victims in the train disaster has led to confusion in identification. A London girl named Lindsay, who was reported dead, did not travel by the train, but her father and sister were injured, tho former being in a critical condition.

It is believed that Sir A. Douglas's valet perished. The King and Queen have sent a message of sympathy to the relatives.
