Some rather interesting events took place last week. On Thursday the opening series of th« monthly kcturettes was given by Mies Cullender, her subject being • The Value of Money.' After briefly sketching tho times when it was little uaod, ana the early Victorian period, when spinning was part of a girl's training, the speaker showed how the introduction of mociiinery changed the order of things, and women were slowly but surely brought out from the sheltered home into public life. Th=* use and abuse of money was clearly shown and adroitly sketched, and practical advice given oi\ cultivating wiso methods of spending and saving, with a view jto ctnergencieft. An animated discussion was held, and deep interest shown by all present.

On Saturday evening a different soenfl met the eye. The Pathfinders' Club held a '* Childhood's Evening," when the guests represented the nursery rhymes of our childhood's days. Little Red* Riding Hood and Miss Muffett, Cinderella and her Fairy Godmother, and many others wandered round, and a Y.W.C.A.. kindergarten, led by Misses Inglis and Pridhara, pang nursery rhymes, while Mrs Jarley's Waxworks, under tho able leadership of Misses Garry and Fowler, brought down the house. "Mesdames Reid, Sutherland, Haslett, Skinner, and Watson, with Miss Griffin (general secretary), were the hostesses, and Mrs Henderson, -with Mioses Lawrence and Briant, supplied the_ supper. The classes are growing in interest. There are still a few vacancies in the first aid and physical drill classes. A fencing cWs, under Mr Lloyd Phil» lips, of the Y.M.C.A., commenced on Saturday afternoon.
