Speaking at Parramatta, the Prime Minister (Mr Joseph Cook) said tho elections had cost tho country over £IOO,OOO. It was a costly matter to appeal to the electorates, but whatever happened they were prepared for. If the Government were allowed to go on all right, if not, nothing was left but to 6-pend another £IOO.OOO in a further appeal. Commenting on the advantages reaped by New Zealand from reciprocity with Canada, Mr Cook pointed out that during the eleven months ended February last Canada took New Zealand butter, of the value of £266,354, while Australia in th;j same ]>eriod sent her only £5,042 worth. New Zealand had similarly expanded her meat exports to Canada.
