QUEENSTOWN REGATTA. Though the. wind dropped at Queenstown. on Saturday, it freshened again, and the course became very rough after two or three of the events had been decided. Results : JUNIOR FOURS, lm. Oamaru Boating Club (Orr, F. Jonep, Ross, Drennan) 1 N.E.B.C. (Wilson, Murch, Purvis, and Knox) 2 Awarua Boating Club 5 Invercargill R.C. and P.C.R.C. did not start. Otago and Invercargill Railway soon dropped to the rear, but there was a good race with the other three boats. The steering of Awarua was erratic, and this lost them the race. Oamaru won by a length. Time, 7min 2sec. LAKE WAKATIPU SENIOR FOUROARED CHAMPIONSHIP. l£m. Oamaru Boating Club (Orr, F. Jones, Ross, Drennan) ' 1 P.C.R.C. (Glengarry,Mason,Thomson,, Hoskins) ' 2 Invercargill Railway 3 Awarua Boating Club did not start. No. 3 in the Otago crew lost his poppet string after a few strokes, which put them out of the race. Port Chalmers seemed to have the race well in hand till within a chain or so from the winning post, when Oamaru put in a challenge, and won by two lengths. Port's third man gave out, which mostly accounted for the crew losing the race. Railway were about three lengths behind, third. Time, lOmin 52sec. The regatta on the whole was very successful, and rowing men generally are well pleased. Oamaru's double win this morning was a popular one. Everything went without a hitch. The Otago Rowing Association's officials—the umpire (Mr Wilson), the starter (Mr Galbraith), and the judge (Mr M. Priest)— carried but their duties, admirably, as did the local officials. Mr Hugh Mackenzie placed his launch at the disposal of the committee. CHAMPIONSHIP. REGATTA. The weather was very changeable for the regatta at Wellington on Saturday. For the first race the sea was choppy," but the wind then moderated, but about 4.50 itswung round to the south and made racing impossible. It was then decided to abandon the last two events, the Maiden Pairs 'and the Senior Fours. Through a misunderstanding, however, the former was rowed, but was afterwards declared no race. Junior Clinker Fours: Wanganui Boating Club 1, Kawatiri Rowing Club 2, Canterbury Rowing -Club 3. Champion Pairs: Union Boating Club (Wanganui) 1, Akaroa Rowing Club 2, Wellington Rowing Club 3. NEW ZEALAND ROWING ASSOCIATION. A special meeting of the New Zealand Amateur Rowing Association was held at Wellington on Saturday night to consider reinstatements and alterations to the rule* An application to reinstate N. A.
