Great blizzards, accompanied by low temperatures, have swept the country from the Rocky Mountains to Pennsylvania. Fifty people are known to be dead, and 200 injured. Cyclones in Louisiana and Arkansas wrecked the villages of Lower Peach Tree, Saline, and Hoxie. Twenty residents are dead, and every building was razed to the ground. Whole sections of Tennesse have been devastated, and the trains, telephones, and telegraphs are paralysed. Winnipeg is cut off from communication with the outer world.
