GERMANY AND "SOCCER"
WONDERFUL GROWTH OF FOOTBALL. An English writer, " Tityrus,' in the * Athletic News,' has received a letter from an ex-English player, drawing attention to the ''great advancement of Association football in Germany." Tluse are iiis words, and he continues: "Here is an exact Tist of the active members of football clubs, showing at a glance the rapid strides that the -game is making here:—
"As these figures ore official and correct in every particular, it is quite clear that in Germany alone tho game is no longer in its infancy—and these statistics, of course, do not take account of Austria, France, Belgium, Holland, and Denmark, where the game is well established. I have, only mentioned those Continental countries in northern and central Europe where the game is a vogue."
