THE TARIFF CONFERENCE. [Special to the Star.] WELLINGTON. January 4. It is probable, statce the Prime (Minister, that the Hon. L. M. 15, Fisher, Minister of Customs, u til be the New Zealand representative at the Tariff Conference called by the Australian Commonwealth Government to meet next- March at Melbourne. Mr Massey was asked by your representative if the Government had come to any decision with a view to bringing about closer trade relations with Australia. His reply was tnat although he had no details at his hand just then his impression was that in its tariff' Now Zealand treated Australia far more liberally than Australia Heated New Zealand.
