The test match between New Zealand and the Davis Cup winners was continued at Auckland yesterday, with the following result:— , Beamish (Eng.)' beat Swanston (N.Z) 6-4, 4-6, 6-4. Ollivier (N.Z.) beat Lowe (Eng.), 6-3,6-3. Dixon (Eng.) beat Peacock (N.Z.),'6-4, 6-0. Parke (Eng.) beat Fisher (N.Z.), 6-2, 6-2. Ollivier was in great form, his service being almost unplayable, while his ground and overhead work were first-claes. He easily annexed the first set, 6-3, taking three love games. His short lobs had Lowe thinking hard, and he showed great judgment in placing his strokes. The earlier part of the "second set was more closely contested, and :he scores ran to 3 fell, but Ollivier took the- next three games, winning the set, 6-3, and the match. —Doubles.— Fisher and Ollivier (N.Z.) beat Lowe and Beamish (Eng), 6-4, 3-6, 9-7. Park and Dixon (Eng.) beat Swanston and Peacock (N.Z-), 6-4, 7.5. The Doubles match Lowe and Beamish T. Fisher and Ollivier was the best of the afternoon, Fisher in particular playing fine tennis.- His overhead smashing and volleying were a feature of the contest, but he received little help from the Canterbury man until near the end, when Ollivier recovered his usual form, and the pair then went out. The New Zealanders had much the better of the first ret, which thty won, 6-4, but the Englishmen equalised, the scores by taking tho next, 6-3. The third set provided a great contest, and 16 games •had to be played before the Now Zealanders finally got to 9-7, taking the set and the match,' a great drive by Fisher providing a winning stroke. The' Wellington man played with great dash and accuracy throughout. The light was failing when Swanston and Peacock took the court against Parke and Dixon, but some fine tennis resulted. The Englishmen took the first game, but the second ran to deuce no less than ei<dit times before tho Isew Zealanders won from Dixon's service. The set ultimately went to the Davis Cup champions, 6-4. Tho Wellington men started off with great vim in the second set, winning the first three games, while the Englishmen gained only one ace. Swanston and Peacock, by accurate play, took the score to 5-2, but the Englishmen then played up to their best form, and won. the next five games, taking the set, 7-5, and the match. ° PIGEON RACE.
