A stirring story of a mother's presence of mind comes from Los Angeles. When on the point of being run down by a motor car, a Airs Baizer saved her four-months-old baby from death by throwing it to a friend. bhe was struck bv a machine owned by Mr R. A. Yates' of San Fernando, while crossing First street, and seeing that escape for both her and her child was impossible she tossed the child to a woman, who was standing a few feet away just as the automobile hit her. The poor woman -s now in hospital, suffering from two broken ribs and a fractured, anti, and il is possible, that there are also internal injuries. Her recovery is doubtful.
