TRINITY CHURCH.
At the quarterly meeting of Trinity Methodist Church/the Rev.' P. W. Fairclough presiding, a report was presented showing that the income for the quarter was not quite up to the usual amount, owing chiefly to very wet Sundays, the smallnees of the evening congregations, and to the fact that Mr Fairclough. had been laid aside through illness for upwards of seven weeks, "it was hoped that as the summer season was approaching there would be better weather, and thereby better congregations. Mr Fairclough resumed his preaching last Sunday. The treasurer of the jubilee fund (Mr R. U. Vanes) reported that £1,177 12s 9d had been received, and that a site for tho Sunday school had been secured close to the church at a cost of £1,250. The quarterly meeting gratefully acknowledged the Divine blessing which had rested upon the jubilee celebrations, as seen in the spirit of liberality manifested by the people, and in the opening of the way for the purchase of a site for a new Sunday school. They desired also to record their appreciation of the hearty response made to the jubilee appeal bv the members and adherents of the church. A committee was set up to make the necessary preparations for the English evangelist of the Methodist Church at Home, who is to visit New Zealand early next year.
The annual District Synod meeting takes place this year at Ealclivtha, and opens its session on November 12. Mr W. Bull was appointed representative, and Mr Joseph Sparrow substitute.
