At Messrs John Rcid and Son's offices the principals of the firm met to say goodbye to Messrs 8. A. Sheen and *W? M. Skene, who for the past five years hare' been closely identified with the firm as rejrresentatives for their property department. Mr C. Russell Smith, speaking on behalt of himself and .Mr Henrr Reid. stnted that the business relationship that had existed between Messrs Sheen and Skene and the firm during their period of service had been most cordial, and he had pleasure in asking each gentleman to accept a Moscriel traveling rug. Mr Smith and Mr Reid wished Messrs Sheen and Skene every success in their new venture, they having purchased the business of Messrs John Skene and Sen. The recipients suitably replied. Advieo was received bv cable in Weilington vesteTday of the death of Carrtaltt Henry Rose, formerly manager for tfca Isew Zealand Shipping Company at Wellington. He had been living in "retirement in London for the last 16 years. _ Tho death occurred this week at her i». sidenee, George street, of Mrs A. D. Glasgow, whose husband was tho first minister of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Dunedin. She was 90 years of age. Her eldest sen was Mr \V. T. Glasgow formerly secretary to the Customs Department.
