- The monthly meeting of the committee of tho Agricultural and Pastoral Society was held this morning, Mr J. A. Roberts (president) occupying the chair. The Secretary of the New Zealand Farmers' Union wrote in reference* to tho complaint of the delay in transit of sheep from the ram and ewo {show that the Minister of Railways stated that Tuesday was tho worst day that could be chosen for 6Uch fairs, owing to the Wednesday stock sales following.—Tho letter was referred to the stock agents for a report. Tho Secretary of the Department of Agriculture wrote offering suggestions in connection with the analysis of seed exhibits at shows.—The suggestions were referred to a sub-committee, consisting of Messrs T. Ritchie, A. Todd, F. Freeman, E. F. Duthie, and R. A. S. Cantrell, to go into tho matter and report. Five new members were elected.
The committee expressed their regret at the death of Mr W. Cowan, of Oamaru, an old and valued exhibitor, and decided to send a letter of 6 % ympathy to the family. With reference to the single-buggy horse class at the Summer Show, it was decided that all entries in this class mu6t be shown in a four-wheel vehicle. A number of detail matters in connection with" the Summer Show next month "were also dealt with.
