The Rev. J. J. North, who for the past eight years has been minister of the Wellington Baptist Church, has been called U succeed the Rev. R, S. Gray, of Oxforc Terrace Church, Christclua-cti. Mr Xortl. is taking a week to consider the matter. Mr F. 11. Joyce, of the -Magistrate'.' Court, Dunedin. has been transferred t-o the Supreme Court staff at WellingtonMr J. M. Rogers, of Inverca.rgill, succeeds Mr Joyce. The. health' of Sir William Steward, now 72 years of age, is causing anxiety to hi? friends He is. suffering from a throat trouble of Jong standing. Captain R, H. Collins, of the Berkshire Regiment, has been appointed a staff oflicer in New Zealand. Mr R. Fox, who a year or so ago \va; inspector in the employ of the Dunedis Drainage Board, and went to Johnsonville (a suburb of Wellington) to superintend important drainage and water work; there, has now been appointed assistant engineer to the Petone Borough Council. Mr L. S. Jennings, prominent in cricket and lawn tennis circles, has been nominated as the Canterbury College candidate for the Rhodes Scholarship of 1912. The Buenos Ay res ' Standard ' of July 17 reports the death there from typhoid fever of Mr J. T. Pinfold, eldest Von of the Rev. .7. T. Pinfold, of Roslvu Methodist Chui-ch. Deceased, who was born in Dunedin, was 23 years of age.
