DEATH BEFORE BLINDNESS
At Saint Germain, last mouth. M Odiot, a well-known .figure in Paris commercial circles, committed suicide by shooting himself in the brain. His rOasou for taking this step was ids fear of becoming blind. M. Jen.n-Ra.ptiste Odiot, aged 89, was a silversmith of repute. His best-known work is the famous silver table service offered to the Czar on the occasion of hi.s visit to Franco. M. Odiot was the greatgrandson of the celebrated goldsmith Claude Odiot, to whom Napoleon entrusted the task of making the crad'y for the young King of Rome, which was designed hy Prudhon.
