The Special Parliamentary Committee set. up la consider the petition of M'Lean Bros, for relief from the Otira tunnel con tract met this morning. Mr Lee (Oamn.ru) was elected chairman. The committe« decided not to admit the Press.
TAUPO TOTARA TIMBER.
WELLINGTON, August 27,
The Special Parliamentary Committea who are. inquiring into the petition of the Tanpo Totara Timber Company, asking for certain raihvav and other concessions, held their first eitting to-day. Mr Anders-mi (Mataura) woe elected chairman of the commitiec. It was decided to permit the petitioners and objectors to be represented by counsel. The proceedings will be open to the Press. The committee adjourned till Wednesday, September 4.
