CHARGE UPHELD. GORE, August 24. Tin* finding of tho court martial on Sergeant-major Instructor Horace Sutton, of the New Zealand Permanent Staff, and a soldier in the New Zealand Defence Forces, charged with conduce to the prejudice of good order and military .discipline—in that lie, in the Defence office at Gore on Tuesday. July 30, in the hearing of Quartermaster sergeant Graham, when ordered hy Captain Gleiidiiiing to proceed to Ralfour and make, that place his headquarters as from August 1, replied; '• 1 refuse to do so," or words to that effect—was made known to-day. as follows: " The court find the accused guilty of the charge. The court sentence the accused to take rank and precondenee as if his appointment to the rank of Staff Sergeant bore a date one day subsequent to the date of his appointment as Sergeantmajor Instructor. C. Pollard of the New Zealand Permanent Staff, has been promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant." This sentence was confirmed by the convening officer. Sutton resumed duty yesterday ;-t Balfour.
