A special meeting of the Chamber of Commerce was held yesterday to protest I against the movement to divert tho NapierI Wellington express from the Manaw.otu ; route back to the Wairarapa. In the course j of the discussion iU was pointed out that while the Napier people had been agitating for the "speeding up" of trains, with a I view to cutting down the time occupied j on the journey between Napier and S\Vl- - lington, the proposed diversion would menu i extending tho time from 9h 32min to lOh I oOmin. A deputation was apjtointed to ! interview the- Hon A. M. Myers to-morrow. | and to emphatically protest against the I proposal.
