(Received January 31, at 1.10 p.m.) A bomb exploded at Strumnitza, near Salonika, killing an officer and five gendarmes and wounding the commandant and seven othere. TRIPOLI, Jannary 30. Five thousand Turks and Arabs, feigning .in attack on Ainzara, after three hours' vigorous fighting, were repulsed, losing heavily. Only two Italians were killed and eight wounded. CAIRO, January 50. It is officially stated that the Duke of Fife was taken ill on the 19th, and pleurisy appeared on the 21st. His temperature was normal until Thursday, but the left lung was congested and heart trouble appeared on Friday, with increasing heart failure thereafter. His faculties were unimpaired until just before death. The King and Queen have, curtailed their Gibraltar programme owing to the death of the Duke of Fife. LONDON, January 50. At the Norwich Assizes Albeit Reeves pleaded guilty to murdering his son, and called evidence to rebut the prison doctor's testimony that he is insane. Ho desired te be punished. The jury agreed he was lit. to stand trial, despite .Mr Justice Channell's contrary opinion. Reeves was sentenced to death.
