Dr Hall was elected to the chair, and explained that the meeting had been to consider a. proposal to tender lienor Squarko ;i coiii"limentnry concert prior to his departure to Euripe. Siynor Squariso, ho stated, took up hip residence in Duivxlin permanently after the close of the South Sen.? Exhibition, and during his 21 years residenco here had boon one of the foremost figures in musical circles in Bunediu, and had acted :ir- conductor to the Duneilin Liiclertafel. Citizens and Garrison P.andn. ard was at prt-t-ent coixlutt-jr of th? Dunedin Philharmonic Society, and al?o held the petition of president of the Society of Musicians. Sn/.'nor Squarise had also helped •Jong amateur operas in Dunedin. and had at al ltimes been willing to lend his services to anything that ten<l€<l to improve music in oiir City, and the speaker thought the present time a fitting opjporteunity of showing Signor •S'quarise our appreciation of him for services rendered. It was resolved that a complimentary concert be tendered to Signor Squarish, ar.d this be held in the Garrison Hall on Friday, March .8. Executice and Ladies' Co'mmitetee* to further the project were
