BAND OF HOPE UXTOX. A meeting of the Band of Hope L'nion \v;is held last night, the president (Mr 1). Gain) in the chair. The balance-sheet of the competitions was presented, showing a debit balance of about £2, and it was decided to solicit contributions to make up this deficit. The question of altering the date of the competitions, so as to avoid clashing with so many S.S. anniversaries, anil to be away from the distraction of the Dunedin competitions, was then discussed. A proposal to make the fixture the last week of April was met with an amendment for the last week of June, and after some discussion the April date was voted out as being too early. The general opinion expressed was that the last week in .June would he much better than the present date, and eventually it was decided to adopt that proposal, subject to ratification at the next monthly meeting. Votes of sympathy were passed to Messrs Aleock and Comissiong in their recent bereavements.
