The Dunedin Cricket Club will open the season on Saturday with a practice match. VChitty Iras definitely decided to again play for South Australia this season, and not for one of the Sydney clubs. ROWING ; THE AMATEUR STATUS. SYDNEY, October 4. The New South Wales Rowing Association have ruled that New Zealand oarsmeft competing for cash prizes for clubs, although only receiving trophies, personally lose their ‘amateur status, and must be reinstated before competing in amateur events in this State. No reinstated man will be eligible to compete in interstate or national contests.
Nominations for the Gore Racing Club’s spring meeting dose on Saturday next, at 9 p.m. The acceptances dose on the 18th inst. Ventura fTVaquair—Sonoma), who won the A.J.C. Breeders’ Plate of 1,500 sovs, at Rand wick on Monday, was bred by Mr Hunter White, of HaviJah, N.S.W. Whm submitted to auction last autumn, she fell to the bid of Mr E. J. Watt, of Napier, at 420gs. The late G. G- Stead won this jane with Boniform.
