YACHT AND MOTOR BOAT CLUB.

The committer of tlio Otago Yacht and Motor Boat Club, in presenting their animal report, congratulate the club on a most successful season. Fairly good entries were received for the club races held during the season, and most of the races were well contested, the fact that some of the classes wer© amalgamated increasing the entries on these classes ; but your committee feel that something further is still necessary, as the third class race last year was not a success. The club's best thanks are due to the following for donations of prizes and trophies : —Hon. J. A. Millar, Messrs A. C. Hanlon, H. E. Moller, ' Evening Star' Company, Messrs 0. G. Smith, E. 0. Hazlett, A. Bedford, H. Nee 6, M. Donaghy and Co., J. K. Galbraith, 0. W. Sirmlstrum, J. Hislop, C. E. Ptatham, A. Morgan, C F. Alexander, Tucana crow, Messrs Kempthorae, Prosser, and Co., Forsyth Johnston, A. Knewstubb, Dawson and Co. As the Broad Hay llogatta Committee did not desire to run the regatta la,«t year, at the request of a number of yachtsmen and residents your committee undertook to carry out this regatta, which was held at Broad Bay on New Year's Day. The weather was good, and there was a very large attendance of the public. The regatta proved most successful both from a racing point of view and from a financial standpoint, a profit of £9 15s being made. The season was commenced with a credit of £l4 19s 6d, and the balance-sheet now submitted shows a credit of £52 12s lOd, which is most satisfactory. It will bo seen that £l3 6s 6d is outstanding in Mibscriptions. and we would urgo on members the necessity of paying their subscriptions

promptly, as otherwise your executive are put to a lot of unnecessary work and expense in endeavoring to get these subscriptions collected. Attention is drawn io the' notice of motion to be moved by the commodore re the necessity of aIP" boats carrying fire extinguishers and lifebuoys. If some stringent measure is not taken, both life and property will undoubtedly 6om© day be lost.

We would like to draw your attention to the fact that there are still a number of hoatownera who have not sent in the name of their boat 6, and your committee would like this remedied, as it is utterly impossible to keep a correct register of boats and their respective crews unless this is done.

The season 1910 and 1911 has been the busiest your committee have yet had, in all 30 yachts and motore having hauled up. Early in the year the Harbor Board erected a floating stage at the end of the club*s jetty; which has been of inestimable value to those using the club ground. Tho coming season bids fair to surpass last year, and provision must ba made for more room. At present practically every inch of available space is taken up, so that something must be done to provide sheds and hauling-up room for our fast increasing fleet. Your committee recommend that the Harbor Board be again approached in regard to their promise, given last season, re dinghy grid. If this grid is erected it will greatly minimise the crowding at the top of the present slip. Last season the pavilion was painted, and a. new rope put on the winch for hauling up tho club's plant is now in first-class order. —Notices of Motion.-*-

Any boatownor failing to comply with this rule .vill not bo allowed to start in any club race or regatta held under the jurisdiction ->f the club, and may be at the discretion of the committee ejected from the club."
