MEETINGS MD SOCIALS.

Mr J. Robertson. Mayor of Lawrence, arranged for a meeting of G-abriel's Gully pioneers at the Provincial Hotel yesterday evening,' and in response to his invitation about 30 of the o!d men gathered together. The leading idea was to give the pioneers a pleasant evening,- and they took advantage of the occasion to talk "early <iays to their heart's content. At the. end the meeting also . took a business . turn, for after hearing Mr B. Winn, Mr C. Duke, Mr J. Robertson, and others, it was resolved that the reunion be established as an annual hxtuie. ' In the Coronation Hall, Ra-vensboume, on Wednesdav evening, a concert was held in aid of the "building fund of the Methodist Church. The Rev. Li. Knowles Smith occupied the chair. The programme was well received, and several items were encored. The" Ravcusbourne Junior C.E. tads were complimented on their performance of a sketch entitled' 'Wanted, a Coachman,' while votes of. thanks to the performers were moved by the Rev. JCharteris, who made special mention of the good work of Mr F. Girvan in prepar* jng the entertainment. Those who contributed to the programme were Misses V. Moore ipiano solo!, L. Leach (song), Forrester (humorous recitation), L. Williams (song), L. Hendra (recitation), V. Jameis (song), and Messrs Rawliiteon (song), and' Bauchop (cornet solo). Items were also contributed by the Ravensbourne Christian Endeavor Society.,.
