MEETINGS AND SOCIALS.
MASONIC BALL. The Masonic hall in the Art Gallery Hall on Tuesday evening, arranged by lodges of the New 'Zealand Constitution, wan conspicuously successful. There wore about 120 couples present, and the hall presented a bright and animated scene. The M.C.s were Bros, Moiler, A. Walker, A. Allan, A. F. Brown, P. Evans, H. Divers, R. Jamieson, and P. G. Evans, Yates’s Band supplied the music, and the caterer was Mr A. Thomson, of Cavcrsham. The decorations were by Mr J. MT.aarhlan. The committee should Ire satisfied with the success of the ball, which, it is hoped, will become an annual function. Y.M.C.A. LECTURES. The Physical Department Committee of the Young Mens Christian Association have arranged a series of lectures to men which should prove of great interest. The lectures will be held in conjunction with the Literary Society. Dr Gordon Macdonald will deliver the first, entitled 1 Contagious and Infectious Diseases,’ on Tuesday evening of next week, at the rooms of the association. Other lectures at monthly intervals will bo held as follows:—‘"Exercise and Recreation,’ by Dr William Roberts; ‘ Tho Influence of Heredity and Environment,’ by Mr H. D. Bedford, M.A., LL.M. ; ‘Health in the Home,’ by Dr F. Ogston. The lectures are open to all men.
