ATHLETIC UNION. Tim fifth annual meeting of llic Otago Cent::; of the New Zealand Athletic, and Cycling Union was held in too Chamber of Commerce last evening. Mr C. They had since heard, however, that that club were taking into i ousidciatiou the advisability of joining the centre, because they had fully tealised that athletes could run- compete at unregistered meetings. Mr Kcast paid tribute to the manner in which the various country representative;, of ilia centre had done their work, and expressed the hope that- the incoming executive would keep in touch with them. .At- the lastannual meeting a committee were set up with the- object of setting up a South Island association in opposition to the New Zealand Athletic Union.
