THE GENERAL ELECTION.
Mr L. R. Phillips, M.P. for Waitemata, has announced that owing to family reasons ho will not seek ro-cleo-tion. A committee has been appointed to arrange for a meeting of Opposition supporters for the purpose of selecting a candidate to contest the scat. Air W. H. Murray, Mayor of Grey Lynn, has been approached by a representative deputation to stand for tho Grey Lynn electorate—n-tho Hon. Geo. Fowlds’s seat—at the forthcoming election. Mr Murray promised to consider the request.
