A BARONET'S INVITATION.

Sir Lancelot Aubrey-Fletcher, Baronet, when the Oversea Premiers were in Englanil, ,«--eiit the following letter to the ' World's Work': I have just been read Lug in yonr magazine the. article- entitled " England to the Empire.: a Message for all the Britons," in which you draw attention to the fact that the permanence of tire British Empire in great measure depends on the opinions held by its several peoples as to the value of association with, one another, and that Ft is a duty which we English owe to ourselves and to our colonial friends that we should let them sec that wo have still good stuff in ourselves and are able and willing to send of the best for the purpose of furthering the welfaro of the Empire. Now it occurs to mo that I, and other English country gentlemen, may be able to assist in this work by inviting to our houses immediately after the Coronation some of our colonial guests in order that they may see something of our manners and" customs in the country. I am therefore ready, and it will give mo and my daughter much pleasure, to receive a series of guots here during the fortnight between June 26 and July 8, on the introduction of the Agent-General of the Colony to which they belong. I can take in four at a time (either married or single), and I suggest that each party should stay three, days, so that as many as possible may have the opportunity of seeing what I should like them to see.

My house (Ellesborough Manor) is on the northern slope of the Chiltern Hills, 6 miles from Aylesbury, 25 from Windsor and Oxford": and the neighliorhood generally will afford many opportunities of seeing England at its best. )i you think this suggestion «. good one, and it may bo followed by other gentlemen, perhaps you will take steps to make it known in such way as you think best.
