VALUE OF NEWSPAPER ADVERTISING
TESTIMONY OF EXPERTS. At a recent meeting of the Rhyl (Wales) Advertising Association, the lion, secretary (Mr P. J. Ashfield) strongly urged the members to extend their newspaper advertisements, as experience had shown that there was no form of advertising which paid so well. Various methods had been adopted to bring the town guide to tho notice of intending visitors, and the returns showed plainly that the' results from the advertisements in newspapers were far ahead of all other mediums. Mr W. H. Lever, M.P., delivered an address lecently on the power of advertising to the members and guests of the newly-formed Advertising Managers' Club, • the occasion being the inaugural dinner of that institution. Speaking, of his own personal beliefs, Mr Lever said that ho began business in, a small way, and he early recognised the vahio of publicity. His advertisements were railway station signs. Since then ho had come to bo lieve in the newspaper. Now, when it como to the selection of different methods o? advertising, he himself would place tho Press first if the right copy and tho right papers were used. Given that judgment, ho believed there was no method of advertising that gave better returns than tho Press. Nowadays the publio attention was interested iu tho advertisement almost as much as it was in th« editorial matter, and it was as keen to.judye tjjo qwtfjty of tn» advertisement as ft&id» a& HMfiWSf-.- ■;.
