At the trial of Smart for the alleged murder of Kt-liel Harris medical evidence was given that the body was buried before rigor mortiri had occurred. Human blood and hair wore on the iron bar which was exhumed. Other witnesses dopo&od that Hi? carl tracks near (he sanitary depot corresponded with the marks made by Smart's cart, which wok of an unusual type. The manager of the foil miry stated that Smart was absent from work on March 14 and 15. He <wnplained of sickness, but managed to attend to a horso. A blacksmith said ho saw Smart spreading ashes in (he shed where the body was buried. Witness asked Smart why he did net take the allies to the reclamation works, and ho replied that the authorities would not allow him to do so. That was contrary to fact, as the authorities were anxious to got such material.
