Tho House of Representatives* has considered the Reciprocity Bill, the vote to consider it being carried by 197 to 120. Tho Democratic leaders announce that but a few of their party object 'A. the measure. The Republicans are split, one section (the "Old Guard") fearing that Protection will be abandoned. Addressing the Pan-American Commercial Conference, President Taft paid ho hoped the day was not distant when reciprocal trade relations would join all countries in North and South -America. Such-an example would be. an-object-lesson to the rest of the world, and would tend to discourage war.
