Pigs.—There is a good demand for goodconditioned lines. Prime baconers, 160's, realise 4-id lb ; heavy-woights, 33<1 per lb. Bacon.—The market is quiet. Prime smoked rolls realise 7d to 7jjd lb; hams, BJd lb. Butter. —There is a better demand. Storekeepers' separator hi attractively got up pat 6, 8d to 9d; ordinary pats, 7d to 8d lb.

Tho prisoner Cecil Stanley Chaplin, who came before Justice Chapman to-day on a charge of detaining postal packets, had a very narrow escape from being sentenced to imprisonment (says a Wellington P.A. wire). His Honor had .refused probatiou, when the Crown Prosecutor stated that the accused had not disposed of the gloves, which had been detained. Chaplin was thereupon ordered to come up for tsentence if called upon.
