RECORD EARTH TREMORS,
MELBOURNE TELEPHONES
TWO BIG NUGGETS FOUND.

During the week ended Thursday many earth tremors were recorded at Sydney. Last Saturday the Melbourne seismograph recorded the severest tremor that has ever affected the instrument. In the slander action Slrahan versus Irmer the jury gave a verdict for plaintiff, with damages of one farthing.
AIELBOURNE, December 3.
The departmental engineer has assured tho Postmaster-General that if the telephonic flat rate had been continued till the present the service would have broken down. The toll system had proved n groat lolief. Nuggets of ninety and a hundred ounces have been found at the. North Woah-Hawp mine.
Tho Scottish commissioners are astonished at the large area of the farms in Australia.
