A committee of the Chamber of Deputies have been investigating the conduct of the prosecution in the case in which one Rochette was sentenced on July 27, 1909, for swindling. They unanimously find that the Prefect of Police, at the then Premier’s (M. Clemenceau) instigation, procured a bogus plaintiff. Tho committee blame M. Clemenceau for intervening without first consulting the judicial authorities.
