At Potchefstroom the Duke and Duchess of Connaughb were accorded a reception equally as enthusiastic as that at the other Afrikander centres. 'Hie Duke reviewed the troops. Responding to an address of welcome, he said it would not bo due to their Majesties' inclination if, instead of merely postponing their South African visit, they were unablo to carry it out. NOT A POLITICAL MISSIONARY. MARITZBORG, November 26. Addressing the Political Workers' Association, Mr Fisher disclaimed the tolo of a political missionary. He urged South Africans to stand by one anotlier, sinking local prejudices. If they kept together they would help the other dominions, but if they failed the failure would bo far-reach-ing. Ho felt that prosperity and security were the only possible results of unifying. THE EDUCATION QUESTION. A OOiDnTTEITAPPOINTED. CAP]': TOWN, November 27. (Received November 28, at 8.30 a.m.) At Mr Lotha's instance, Dr Jameson supporting, the Union Assembly unanimously appointed a Select Committee to examine tho educational i-ystem of the four provinces, with a view to ensuring equality of opportunity for (ho English and Drtch languages, in accordance with article 137 of the Constitution, and not by compulsion. THE DUKE AT PRETORIA. PRETORIA, November 27. (Received November 23. ai 10.5 a.m.) The Duke of Coniuiighl had a splendid reception and a busy day. Tho principal ceremony was laying, the foundation stone of Government Buildings on a site overlooking the city. Tho Duke de?cribed the site as a magnificent one.
