BOWLING

THE CHRISTMAS TOURNAMENT. The , Executive of the Caledonian Bowling Club met last evening. It,was resolved— That this Executive strongly disapprove of the, action of the Council in refusing to pass the programme of the Christmas tournament presented by the Dunedin Centre, seeing that at the annual meetings of the various clubs in the Dunedin Centre an overwhelming majority were in favor of a Christmas tournament. We desire to point out that in the event of the Cotmoil refusing to grant a programme for a Christmas tournament at Christchurch in December, 1911, the same trouble might arise with the bowlers in that district, and suggest that the annual tournament controlled by the Association should he held at Christmas each year, thus meeting the wishes of a majority of bowlers. The Executive of the North-east Valley Club passed the following resolution : That this Executive endorse the action of the Dunedin Centre in applying to the Now Zealand Bowling Council for permission to hold a Christmas tournament, and hereby instruct their delegates to support the same in compliance with the wishes of the members of the Northeast Valley Club, as expressed at their annual meeting.
