A Loudon cable advises that the Ranelagh Club (through Mr Lempriere, of Melbourne, who is now at florae) urge the visit of an Australian polo team to compete in the Coioaaiiun Cup in July. The team of ponies, it is suggested, should arrive at the end ot February or early in March to get condition. Mr Lempriere is communicating , ith the New South Wales, Victorian, and South Australian clubs. RICCARTOX TRAINING NOTES. CHRISTCHURCH, November 1. It was a beautiful morning on tile tracks Taskmaster, assisted by Sharpshooter, finished strongly over a mile and a-half in 2min 43i;sec. Martist went pleasingly over nine furlongs in 2min 2sec, and Bliss galloped seven furlongs attractively in linin 29iseo. Countermine was better than Husbandman over ten furlongs in 2min 16|sec. Merriwa ran away from Kopu over twelve furlongs, run in 2min 3fi?scc, greatly pleasipg tlx*? onlookers, Equitas ran six furlongs brilliantly in Imin Forraby and Dreadless together took Imin for tho same journey. Cronstadt beat Oiyoi over ten furlongs in 2min ISeec, the latter going disappointingly. Penates appeared to tiro badly at the finish of seven furlongs Cullinan ran tho first four of ten furlongs in 50i?sec, and completed the journey in 2min 14see, but tirod badly. Dialmlo. Sandstream, and I*o6 Angelos had an interesting gallop over a mile and a-half. Los Angelos, polling hard, set a merry pace for a mile, when Sandetroam moved up, and thou Diabolp came with a nice run and beat Los Angelos to the pest by two lengths, Sarulstream the same, distance away. The mile was run in Imin 45sec, and the full distance in 2min 39 2-s:;sc. Diabolo and
Log .Angelos both performed well. In-go-da wan fully extended over ten furlongs, the last nine of which were run in InSn 58 S-Sseo. Bridge was given light work, and most of the Stewards’ Stakes candidates were given sprinting tasks.
