Desert Rose went to the front at tie end of the second furlong, and carried the field along right lo the home turn, where Beverage and Styria joined issue, but once in line, for homo the one-eyed Beverage assumed control two lengths from Styria, and at the distance shook off a sold bid by that filly, and won by a short length.
