RACING AT CAULFIELD. The V.A.T.C. meeting was opened on Saturday. The principal event was.the AUSTRALIAN HURDLE RACE, of 1,300 sovs. jjin, less 92yds. Tundulava, 9.0 1 Kulcurna, 10.11 2 Minarto, 9.0 3 Also started: Vernier (11.11). Obi (11.7), Lord Desmond (10.9), Jewel Case (10.3), Treat (10.1), King's Ransom (9.13), Ripon (9.13), Coir (9.9), Brownie (9.0), Louis© (9.0). Coir ran to the front, and showed the way over the first hurdle, followed by Kulcurna, King'a Ransom, and Brownie. Jewel Case fell at the hurdle near the turn. Coir led into the straight the first time, and when passing the stand had King's Ran.=onl, Obi, and Treat in nearest attendance. Coir showed the way past the stand the seeond time, being then ten lengths ahead of King's Ransom, who was followed by Minarto and Obi.
