ROSLYN COUNCIL
Tho monthly mooting of the Rcslyn Borough Council was hold last evening and attended by the Mayor (Air J. H. F. Hamel), Crs Wilson, Masterton, Hayward, Todd, Wraight, Menzies, Fea, and .Mat heron. Dr Champtaloup, District Health Officer, formally asked tho Council, in accordance with the motions passed at a meeting of local bodies in tho Otago Hospital district held on July 11, would adopt a resolution delegating their powers as a local authority under tho Public Health Act, ISOB, with respect to infectious disease and sanitary inspection, to tho Otago Hospital and Charitable Aid Board.—Referred to the Finance Committee. The Works Unmnitteo recommended that Mr Calverley bo informed that the Council has no record of any agreement to pay survey fees incurred by him; that Messrs honntag be informed tho Council docs not admit any responsibility with regard to their fences; that the Roslyn Tramway company be inter-fJ hj t Council will lay an asphalt and stone crossing at the (.topping piaco at top Roes street, and also t the loon of - the electric lino in High street, providing the , company agree to pay half cost; that tho arrangement with F. ilodges for purchas'dof his piece of land to straighten part of Main street be. confirmed; that Messrs Sonntag be notified to remove pi at. u m land abutting on tho Brockville road, tho same constituting a serious nuisance.—The report was adopted. Tho Water Committee reported that the clerk had been instructed to invito tenders for the supply of sixty-two tons of castiron mains lor the extensions to the tv ikorai Valley, Anderston road, and Norfh View crescent as under—namely, thirtytwo tons of 4in and thirty tons of 3in mains. The Committee had up to date not received any reply from Messrs Rose and Glendining as to suggestion to supply water to the Roslyn Mills. —The report was adopted. The Mayor reported that a special meeting of the Works and Finance Committees had considered the matter of defining tho duties of the inspector, and a satisfactory arrangement had been arrived at.—Approved. The Mayor reported that tho Council’s expert, who was going into the question of lighting, would report on the feasibility of bringing the whole installation right up to date”on the most modern lines, and-re to what could be dene in the direction of improving the present system.
