Mr Horace G. Wilson has severed hie connection with the Yorkshire Insurance Company in order to take up the position as chief clerk to Messrs Bred rick and Chalmor of this City. Mr J. A. Hutton, chief postmaster at Wellington, who ie retiring, was presented last night with an address from the lettercarriers. tor Joseph Ward made the presentation.
Tha Hon. J. T. Paul reaches Dunedin to-night. He comes South as president of the-Tailoressas’ Union to attend the function of that union’s coming of ago, which is expected, to be tho largest gathering of female workers held in this City for many years.

The death ie announced of William James Rolfc, American essayist and author of fovoral works on Shakespeare, aged oighty-three years. .Miss Pacey, of Dunedin, whose success at the local competitions is well known, has bean engaged by the Gisborne Orchestral Society" to sing at their concert to bo given on the 19th inst. She leaves by steamer on Tuesday. Mr C. R. Smith, of the Alliance Assurance Company, will leave for Wellington on the 20th inst. to hike up his new duties there.
