HARRIERISM
ANGLICAN. The fifth annual meeting of the Dunedin Anglican Harriers was held in Kroon's Tea Rooms last evening. Mr'A. Washer (president) occupied the chair, and there was a good attendance of members. The Chairman, in moving the adoption of the annual report, .said that the past season was the most satisfactory they had had tince the inception of the club. It was not only rjie run that the harrieis enjoyed, but the social evenings that followed. Last year a number of doctors complained about young fellows taking on harrierism without training. It had a tendency to strain the heart. Therefore, before commencing the season, let them practice beforehand. Since their last meeting the City had been visited by Lord Kitchener. Not only should young fellows think of sport—they should also think of defending their country. Looking round the meeting he saw only one of their number who belonged to a volunteer corps. He hoped that before the season was out all the members of the club would have joined the Territorial Force of New Zealand.—(Applause.) Mr L. G. Lilly seconded (he motion, which was carried. The following office-bearers were elected : —Presfdent, Mr A. Washer (re-elected); vice-presidents—Messrs J. Allen, M.P., Thos. Somerville, C. G. Wliito, C. H, Statham, W. T. Talboys, G. R. The Committee of the Caversham Harriers' Club, in their fifth annual report, state that last season was one of the nu.st successful in the club's history—largely accounted for by the keen interest displayed by the club members. The club funds "arc in a healthy condition, mainly due to the proportion of ]irofiLs received from the late carnival. The Committee feel that some thing will have to be done in the matter of curtailing the expenditure in connection with attendance badges. Nineteen runs were held during tie year from various places. The average attendance was twenty-five—a big improvement on last year. Nine members are entitled to receive badges, as they did not miss a run during the year. Three club races were held during the year, which were well contested, and were the means of enabling the Selection Committee to select the best team for the interelub events. To the following donors of prizes the club's thanks are due: —Mr T. K. Sidey, championship prize, won by J. Beatson; the vice-presidents (Messrs J. Brown, J, Wilson, and L.
