Mr Tiros. Rutherford, for many years bead waiter in the Excelsior Hotel, who .is leaving there to take up another position in the City, was the recipient of a gladstone bag from the employees. The presentation was made by Mr Richardson, the chef, who, on behalf of tho staif, wished Mr Rutherford every success and prosperity in his new position. Dr Tnihy King in to he appointed .honorary general president of the Society for the Promotion of tho Health of Women and Children if he i© willing to accept tho position on assurance that he wilt not be called on to take an active pint in Hie work. Mr Sidpcy Woolf, of this City, has been appointed .fudge of music at the first Wellington competitions, to he held in October next. Mr W. E. C'aldow. secretary of the 'Wellington Choral Society, arrived in town by the second -express from Christchurch last evening. Mr Caldotv is leaving for London shortly, where he will join Ins sister. Mini Mina Caldow, whither the latter went to pursue her musical studies. , Mrs E. R. Miller and MnsMcfoic Mil ler, well known ns teachers of cookery at Dunedin, leave by the Tarnwera on Sunday for Auckland, where they will reside. The Rev. Jatne.s I!.
