EASTER REGATTA AT OAMARC
A meeting of the Executive of tho above club was held last evening, and the following members were present :—Vicecommodore Moller (in the <. hair), l!c:n----ccmiiiodoi'e Sn)ith, and Messrs Robertson, Morgan, Uedford. Dcdgshun, Maltby, Whesler, MTulluch, Sundstruiii, and M'Kcegan (secretary). A letter was received from tho lorangi's crew asking that the time of the championship be altered from 3 p.m. to 3.45 p.m. A general discussion followed, and it was finally decided to start at 3.30 p.m. Several letters from Mr-Herbert Orocott and one from Mr C. W. Kent were handed in by the secretary, relative to the proposed visit of the O.Y.C. licet at Master to Oamaru. The arrangements made to date are that the yachts will leave Taiaroa. Head.; on Good Friday at 7 a.m., and race to O.uuui'U for a cup yet to be obtained. Thvi race will be sailed under tho Mark l-'oy system if there is a sufficient breeze at the start. The skippers of the yachts are to meet at 6 a.m. at Rocky Point. Kaik, and decide the matter on the day's breeze. Mr W. J. V. M'Culloch consented to allow his cup to be raced for on the dame day for the launches' race. This will be started on Good Friday, at 8 a.m., from the tongue wharf, under Mark Foy lilies, and iinisli at Oamaru. Messrs Led ford and Knewstubb are the handicappers. It is expected that niue starters will be going for this cud. Ou Easter Saturday a regatta will be held under the ausuiccs of tho 0.Y.C.. and races will be put "on for the fishing motor launches. Otago launches, Otago open yacht race (handicap), and Otago Cruisers' Race. The Oamaru Rowing Club will also put on several rowing races. The town cleik advisee! that Lord I'lunket would be in Oamaru at Easter. The secretary was instructed to enter into arrangements with a view of obtaining the Lady Roberts as flagship. A meeting will be held in Oamaru next Wednesday, and the secretary was instructed to attend and complete* arrangements for the regatta. A letter was received from the Colonial Secretary granting permission for an ait union. S'*ns twenty-six photcs have already been obtained." leaving only another fourteen. Mr MoTgan was instructed to go on with the framing, and tho secretaries to have tickets, etc., printed forthwith. The following races are set down for championship day, 12th March:—Third class, 3 p.m.; motors, 3.15; championship and third second class race, 3.30 p.m. ( Messrs 'X. Shepherd (Dunedin) and H. Grocott (Oamaru) were elected members of the club. The Secretary mentioned that he had received a request from the cruisers that they would like another race on championship day for the balance of the second and third prizes not won previously.—Whilst agreeing that the request was a very reasonable one, it was decided th:it to'grant same would be making a very bad precedent, and the matter was therefore allowed to drop.
