Mr .1. Fleming, of Meadowbank Farm. Clarkfiville, :u«; disposed of his property to Mr Alex, llcnnie, of Dnnedin. This farm is recognised as being one of the best fauns in Tokomairiro district, and was recently under offer to the Government as a suitable place for the establishment or an expoirnental farm, Miss Charlotte A. ]")o G. Graham, teacher of the nitivj school at Reomoana, has been recommended for appointment as mistress of Southbridgo School, vice Miss K. Sims, who has resigned in order to further prosecute her studies. The dredging industry is being revived in this district, and on Wednesday afternoon a number of local residents assembled at Glenore to witness the launching of the ponloons for a dredge being built for Messrs Cameron and party. The pontoons are those of the late Golden Vein dredge, which, with ihe dredging machinery, have been removed from Beaumont, to Glenore. The pontoons have been lengthened, and the dimensions over all aro now 110 ft x 26ft. x 7ft, with an 80ft well and 88ft ladder. I'he dredge when completed will bo capable- of dredging to a depth of 45ft. Thero aro over forty acres of ground to work on. It is expected to have, the dredge- in full working order in six weeks from date.

The minds of ratepayers in P.ruce County have been exercised for months past re alleged discrepancies in the book?, caused l>v lho assistant county clerk, who suddenly disappeared some time- ago. Kx-pupilfi' Club. This board contains the names of all duxe* of the school sinco 1875 (with the exception of three years, which could rot be traced). The board should prove not only an ornament to tho school, but of historical interest. A gold medal, presented by Mrs Edward Stewart for the !>est display of needlework, was won bv Miss Jeannie Hislop. Tho "Bruce County Council are not in favor of bearing the'cost of an election for apjKHiitment of a member to the Hospital and Charitable Aid Hoard, under the new Act, which comes into force next month, and have decided to allow tho question of election to remain in abeyance.—Own correspondent, March 3.
