The Rev. Dr Nisbet reached Wellington from Sydney yesterday. His health is much better.

_Mr W. J. Bardsley, secretary to the Timaru Harbor Board, is spending a few days in town.

Mrs H. Feldwick (widow of the Hon. H. J. Feldwick )and the Misses ]•;., M., and C. Feldwick have booked passages for England by tho first P. and O. steamer from New Zealand—the Malwa—leaving Auckland on February 16. It is their intention to make an extensivo tour of tho United Kingdom and the Continent. The Rev. E. C. Tennent is leaving the Port Chalmers Presbyterian Church in response to a thrice-repeated call from Martinborough, in the Wellington district. Mr Tennent announced his decision at the annual tea meeting, wliich was held in the church buildings yesterday evening, and which was largely attended, amongst those present being the Rev. Mr Kinmont (Taieri) and the local clergymen— the Revs. G. W. Christian (Anglican). J. Ward (Wes. leyan), and W. M. Grant (Congregational). Mr Tennent said he would probably take up his new pastoral in four or five weeks' time. He had been thirteen and a-half years in the Port Chalmers district, and he felt that in the beat interests of the congregation, and in his own interests, the change was desirable. He had at first declined the call to Martinborough. but more mature deliberations had decided him, despite the wrenching of ties involved, to accept the call. The congregation are arranging to entertain Mr Tennent at a social before he departs for his new field of endeavor.

Mr John Ronald Duncan died at Christchurch on Sunday. He was the eldest son of the late Mr Peter Duncan, founder of tho tirm of P. and D. Duncan, and was in his forty-second year. The deceased had been ill for a fortnight with pneumonia, to which he succumbed. In his earlier'years Mr Duncan was prominent in football and swimming circles, and took a keen interest in athletics generally. He was connected with the Sydenham Football Club, and played as a Canterbury representative against New South Wale's about tho vear 1894.
